Judith Lynn Moore   1942-2010

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Nature is the inspiration for Judith Moore's luminous oil paintings, which include strong elements of light, color, movement, and drama.  Paying close attention to the qualities of sunlight and shadow, Judith's work celebrates the beauty of the familiar and the richness of life.  Enlarging subjects transforms their fragile, fleeting qualities into stunning images that capture the eye.  This close-up vision is depicted in a precise and even method with a sharp focus realism.

Born in Springfield, Illinois in 1942, Judith received both a BFA and an MS in Art Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  She taught art privately and in the public schools for many years before moving her studio to Santa Fe in 1999.

Judith developed her unique vision and style over a career of about 40 years, with most of her major works created between about 1990 and 2010.  Judith's exhibited her work extensively throughout the Midwest, Southwest, and California, and won numerous awards and recognitions in her lifetime, including 8 "best in show" awards.
